I am doing an exchange semester in this beautiful city and i will take you with me and show you some of the beautiful places they have around here. Für jeden der nicht genau weiß wo genau Marseille genau liegt, habe ich hier eine Karte hochgeladen. Marseille liegt in Südfrankreich und ist die zweitgrößte Stadt Frankreichs. Es liegt am Meer aber hat auch eine Berglandschaft. Ich absolviere bis Dezember mein Auslandssemester an der KEDGE Business School im Marseille. So we have a mediterrian climate here. Right now in the middle of september we still have around 75,2 °F. So you can still hop in the sea and relax at the beach. The wind here is called the Mistral. Someday it blows hard and then it's getting a little chilly but the sun is shining 300 days a year here.

Marseille hat ein mediterranes Klima. Wir haben zur Zeit noch 24° C, also absolutes Bade- und Strandwetter. Manchmal geht ein ziemlich heftiger Wind - der Mistral - und dann wird es hier schon richtig kalt und man braucht einen Pulli. Aber bei 300 Sonnentagen kann man sich nicht wirklich beklagen. 

2013 Marseille was the European Captial of Culture. This is quite an improvement, because in the past was quite known as a scary and shady city. When you hear something about Marseille it's content is mostly dangerous. Well my experience so far is, that of course there are some very very poor an dangerous parts of Marseille where you better not go, but you know this places and in the center it is quite safe. Marseille as mostly every city at the south cost is not that clean. Trash is lying on the street and there are a lot of homeless/drunk people. As in every major city you have to watch for your purse in crowded places but this is the same in Barcelona, London, New York. Otherwise i have experienced that people here are very helpful and nice. I mean, you should speak a bit french. At least manage to say hi and can you help me or can you speak english. The older people do not have a clou about english but most of the younger ones can understand you. If you make an effort, they will appreciate and gladly help you or at least they make an effort too. :) 

But not that you think now, Marseille is horrible. NO ! Quite the contrary. It is beautiful with it's old houses and it's french charme. The sea is beautiful and the mountains - OMG! It has it's own charme. You have the Old City - the panier. Or the hip neighbourhood - the cours julien. You have the Old Port of Marseille with it's daily fish market and the New Port with it's total new fassade. You have beaches along the corniche and the calanques. I will tell you about everything in my next posts! So keep posted!

Marseille war 2013 die Kulturhauptstadt Europas. Also ganz gegenteilig zur allgemeinen Meinung, dass Marseille gefährlich und dubios wäre. Immer wenn ich etwas über Marseille gehört habe war es damit verbunden, wie gefährlich es hier sei. Meiner Erfahrung nach ,soweit das möglich ist, gibt es in Marseille natürlich sehr sehr arme und gefährliche Orte, welche man besser meidet, aber man kennt diese Stadtteile hier. Das Zentrum jedoch ist äußerst sicher. Die Städte im Süden sind alle sehr dreckig und so auch Marseille. Abfall liegt auf der Straße und man sieht hier viele obdachlose/betrunkene Bettler. Wie in jeder Großstadt gibt es Diebe, also mein Tipp ist seine Tasche stehts im Auge zu haben, aber es ist nicht gefährlicher als Barcelona, London oder New York. 

Meiner Erfahrung nach sind die Menschen hier sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Man sollte schon etwas Französisch sprechen. Hallo, wie geht es Ihnen? Wo liegt das ? Sprechen Sie englisch? Solange man sich Mühe gibt und zumindest den Versuch macht ein bisschen Französisch zu sprechen, sind die Leute hier meistens sehr zufrieden und helfen liebend gerne. Ältere Menschen sprechen leider sehr selten Englisch, aber die Jüngeren können sich durchaus verständigen. Wenn man also aus sich heraus kommt und versucht zu kommunizieren, tun die Landsleute es einem gleich. :) 

Nicht dass ihr jetzt alle denkt Marseille wäre schrecklich und sei verrückt hier ein Auslandssemester zu verbringen. Marseille ist wunderschön mit seinen alten Häusern und dem französischen Baustil, dem Meer und den Bergen. Es hat seinen eigenen Charme. Man hat das Altstadtviertel - Le Panier. Das In-Viertel - Cours Julien. Es gibt den alten Hafen mit täglichem Fischmarkt und den Neuen Hafen mit der komplett renovierten Fassade. Es gibt Strände entlang der Corniche und die Calanques. Aber über all diese Dinge berichte ich euch jetzt nach und nach sehr detailliert. Also bleibt gespannt!
